Brotherhood forms Popular Crowd in Taiz with Qatari support

In the past two weeks, military leaders belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood have celebrated the graduation of a number of military forces under the names of the Popular Crowd or the Popular Mobilization Forces, a Yemeni version,  in Taiz province.

A military source told Newsyemen that the militias of the Brotherhood Popular Crowd was founded secretly at the end of 2018 supported by Qatar, and their training camps in Yafrus area in Jabal Habashi district, the Feb. 11th  camp in Jabal Sabr and al-Asabeh camp. 

According to the source, members of the National Army brigades belonging to the Brotherhood, other members and sons of the Party's leaders were sent together to the three  camps amid at re-training them militarily, ideologically at the hands of the Brotherhood officers, as well as studying religious and partisan cultural courses.

The move came amid at strengthening the ideological control of the army brigades, represented by the 22nd Infantry Brigade, 170th Air Defense, the 4th Infantry Brigade, under the Brotherhood's officers, the rest elements would be framed as Standby Militias, according to the source.

More than 5,000 members of the Muslim Brotherhood, 2,500 of whom have graduated (two Batches in the 17th Infantry Brigade, two Batches in the 22nd Infantry Brigade, two Batches in the 4th Infantry Brigade, and one Batch 170 in the Air Defense Brigade) Graduated under a formal government cover under the auspices of the leadership of the axis.

Two graduates said to Newsyemen that they are undergoing more security than military exercises, raids, climbing buildings, rescuing, protecting and tracking personalities, as well as partisan and cultural religious.

The two graduates added that they are undergoing courses and documentaries that glorifying the Brotherhood's sacrifices in Yemen and Palestine, praising the role of Qatar, Turkey and Oman. 

The two graduates said that they are subjecting to courses and documentaries to antagonize the Yemeni parties, the Southern Transitional Council and the UAE. 

The two graduates pointed out the teachers or instructors who taught them are preachers and known Islahi leaders. 

The two graduates talked about the importance of controlling al-Hujareyah areas, currently under controlled by the 35th Brigades, and districts of Taiz coast, Bab al-Mandab, Mocha, Dhubab, Mawza'a, al-Wazee'ah that are controlled by al-Amaleqa Brigades. 

Information confirmed that the Popular Crowds are generously financed by the State of Qatar via Sheikh Hamoud Saeed al-Mekhlafi, is supervised by politician Diaa al-Haq al-Ahdal and militarily the Colonel Abdo Farhan al-Mekhlafi, known as Salem, the commander of the military wing of the Muslim Brotherhood in Taiz and Ibb provinces.

In a related context, dozens of Brotherhood leaders and Islahi teachers received training courses internally, and others were rehabilitated outside Yemen, given varying military ranks, and distributed to the leadership of the axis and military brigades under the same plan.

The information shows that the Popular Crowd will represent the solid bloc that the Brotherhood wants to rely on in their control of the army establishment and narrow the supposed national margin inside the Army's institution that the people of Taiz were counting on to form the national army.
