Houthis imposed 30 million riyals on Money Changers in Sana'a to support militias

Money changers in Sana'a province said that the Houthi militias imposed additional money under the name of supporting the War Effort and supporting religious events twice a year.

The Money changers added that the Houthi militias imposed on a Money Changer to between 25 to 30 million  riyals a year under the title of supporting the War Effort as well as expenses what the so-called treatments for the injured Houthi gunmen.  

They added that during the last six months of this year money changers paid 13 million riyals, in addition to the legal amounts paid in the name of taxes, Zakat and others, which rose in the four years of the militias control by more than 100%.

The Money changers complained about the threat of the militias to close their shops if they refused to pay, pointing out that they did not find support against the actions of militias,

Since the Houthi militias have taken control of the capital Sana'a, exchange shops have become the only intermediary that conducts exchanges and remittances between Houthi and the various countries of the world because they do not recognize the legitimacy of the Houthi coup.

The Money changers said that if the militias continue to impose their royalties on them, this will affect their ability to continue their activity and will negatively affect the process of remittances of people and merchants in areas controlled by militias, and that may lead them to suspend their work or strike work, as happened during the past period
