Early every day, the girl Huwaida Walid goes for a journey full of hardships to bring drinking water from areas far from her village called al-Sahirah area in al-Mashaleha area, is a a rural area in Mocha district.

On foot or to steal a half hour on the back of her donkey, twelve-year-old Huwaida crossed a road three and a half kilometers-long route to reach al-Bulaili in al-Sahirah to get some liters of water then returned back for a half-day trip.

The child Huwaida summarizes the tragedy of rural villages whose inhabitants, on a day-to-day journey of misery, have to travel long distances in a climate heavily heated for bringing drinking water.

"The water is usually brought daily by all the people of the area and they go early in the morning carrying plastic bottles to fill them with water," said Haj Ali Awad, a resident of the village of al-Sahirah.

Awad adds that ""If we are late, we will return empty-handed, because the crowding on that well is not limited to our village but includes other rural villages."

Amidst the heat of the sun and the hardship of the road, the residents of the village walked half a day to get enough water that had dried up from wells they used to dig in their rural town east of Mocha.

The absence of a water project is one of the most difficult problems faced by the people of al-Sahirah village and other neighboring rural villages, which leads them to go to distant areas to bring water.
