The Spanish authorities found Yemeni Olympic champion Hilal Ali al-Haj's body in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean as he tried to emigrate to Spain.  Sources at the Yemeni embassy in Spain confirmed that the Spanish authorities handed over the body of al-Haj to the embassy and that they are in the process of carrying out procedures to transfer the body to Yemen.

Al-Haj had decided to emigrate illegally after doors were closed in his homeland and decided to go to Europe and fulfill his dream of being the most prominent champion of the Wushu Kung Fu.

Although he had won the bronze medal at the Islamic Solidarity Championship in Azerbaijan in 2017, al-Haj decided to emigrate from Yemen, as many of the finest Yemeni youth have done before him because of the war and crisis they are experiencing that is killing their dreams and talents.

Some of his friends also confirmed that al-Haj faced many problems with the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Houthis in Sanaa, "Hassan Zaid" after he refused to even pay his travel dues.
