Pompeo: The future of the Iranian people is contingent upon his country's stop destabilizing the region

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the Iranian people will have a better future when their government begins to respect basic human rights and abandon its destabilizing activities in the region.
He added, in a tweet on his account in "Twitter", that the choice is in the hands of the Iranian regime.
"America is closely following what is happening in Iran," he said, expressing concern about reports of dozens of deaths.
In his closing speech, Pompeo strongly condemned the protests by the security forces and called on the Iranian authorities to restore the Internet.
On Tuesday, the Iranian army issued a statement in the first comment on the protests that have swept Iran for days, calling the movement a "conspiracy."
"The army declares its readiness and vigilance to defend the country's independence and territorial integrity," the Fars news agency quoted a statement by the Iranian army in the wake of the recent unrest.
