A report of the "Siham News" website affiliated to the reformist movement in Iran and close to the leader Mahdi Karoubi, published on Thursday, revealed a meeting "important in the Iranian foreign ministry on the critical situation in Iran and the region, and the rejection of the foreign policy of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in the region."

According to the website, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last week at the request of Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Dharif, with the participation of 60 former ministers and deputy ministers of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, and important reports were presented on the fragile Iranian situation in the region, including Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan and Lebanon.

Dharif spoke about Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's visit to Japan, saying that previous consultations with US President Donald Trump by the French and Japanese presidents had reached important results, including the suspension of sanctions on the sale of Iranian oil, but after the recent protests in Iran, Trump sent in A message to Shinzo Abe and Macron about his retreat from his previous position and that the sanctions on Iranian oil sales will not be lifted.

On the failure of Iran's policies in the region, the report said, Dharif spoke about Iran's soft power and Iran's influence in the region, and Dharif referred Iran's failed foreign policies to the policies of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and a "holy legion" of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

Dharif added that the developments taking place in the region are proceeding in a harmful way, adding: "Unfortunately, because of the propaganda and misconduct by the Iranians, the situation in Iraq has become hostile and general in Iraq, hostile to Iran, and Iran's current exports to Iraq have declined very sharply compared to the year." The past because of the protests in Iraq.

On Yemen, Dharif said, according to the Iranian website's report: "The Houthis are holding regular talks with Saudi Arabia at the present time, and we are afraid that they will not take our advice on that."

Last Tuesday, prominent leaders of the Houthi militia met with the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Javad Zarif, in the Omani capital, in the second meeting between an Iranian minister and leaders of the group in two days.

This meeting comes with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tehran, two days after a meeting between the Iranian Minister of Defense, Amir Hatami, with the Houthi leader, Ibrahim al-Dailami, who was appointed as the group’s ambassador to Tehran, and they discussed and strengthened military cooperation with the Iranians.
On the decline of Iranian influence in Afghanistan, Dharif said: "In the Afghan situation and the Taliban's talks with the Americans, it was agreed to make changes to the new constitution they wish to write for Afghanistan, where the rights of the Persian and Shiite speakers in this new constitution will be ignored."

In the Lebanese file, Dharif said that the Iranian situation in Lebanon is better than other countries, because managing the file is in the hands of the Secretary General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, personally.
