Former southern president Ali Nasser Mohamed affirmed that the Bab El Mandeb and Suez Canal gates represent one unit in the protection of the Red Sea and the safety of international navigation in the region.

President Mohamed described, in an interview with the Egyptian newspaper Al-Fajr, the current situation in Yemen, as very dangerous, pointing out that he has repeatedly called for stopping the war and resorting to the language of dialogue instead of arms, adding that "the victor in this war is defeated."

Nasser said, "Yemen suffers because of its strategic location."

He added that the Yemeni people are the ones who "pay the price of war, no services, no education, no hospitals, no security, no stability and widespread epidemics, and more than 20 million below the poverty line other than those who were displaced in Yemen and abroad in search of security and a decent life."

He stated that Yemen is going through the worst humanitarian catastrophe the region is witnessing due to the ongoing war and the absence of the state in Yemen, and the reason is that there are more than one president, more than one government, and more than one army.

Meanwhile, President Ali Nasser Muhammad praised the recent dialogues with the Southern Transitional Council, in Riyadh, although they were late, warning that war merchants will work to obstruct them.

He stressed that the most important thing is to maintain national sovereignty, national decision, and security and stability in Yemen, because the region needs strong allies, not subordinate powers.

He held what he described as "merchants of war responsible for the failure of political dialogues," pointing out that they had turned the war into attrition fights for all parties, particularly the Republic of Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

On his ambition to play a political role, Ali Nasser Mohamed confirmed that he is no longer looking for power as much as he is trying to find a solution. "The authority was tried from a governor to a head of state, and plagued by its fire," he added.

President Ali Nasser Muhammad mentioned his relationship with Sheikh (Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan), saying: "I bear witness that during it he provided all forms of support to Yemen in all agricultural, industrial, electricity, construction, and other fields," he added. "Can history forget that Zayed Al-Khair is the builder of the Ma'rib Dam?"
