The UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, condemned the escalation of military activities in the governorates of Sana'a, Saada, and Marib, saying that this might hinder the (very fragile) progress that Yemen had made with difficulty in reducing escalation.

In a statement issued on Sunday evening, Griffiths said, "We condemn the escalation of military activities in the governorates of Sana'a, Saada and Marib, where reports of air strikes and missile and ground attacks have occurred."

He added, "Of particular concern is the air attack that" was said "that targeted the Independence Military Camp in the city of Marib, killing at least eighty soldiers, according to preliminary statistics." ... without calling the Houthi militia - Iran's arm in Yemen - involved in the commission of This massacre.

In his statement, Griffiths warned: "I have said before that the progress made by Yemen with difficulty in reducing escalation is very fragile, and such measures may hinder this progress."

The UN envoy urged "all parties to stop the escalation now and direct their energies away from the military front towards politics."

"The negotiating tables are more effective than the battlefields in resolving the conflict," he concluded.
