The European Union Mission in Yemen stated that the visit by a delegation of ambassadors of the European Union to the capital, Sanaa, is part of the communication with the Yemeni parties to encourage them to reach a comprehensive political settlement.

The mission stated, in a statement, that "Hans Grundberg, European Union Ambassador to Yemen, with the French Ambassador Christian Testo and Netherlands Ambassador Irma Van Duorne, started a visit to Sana'a on Sunday, as part of the European Union's continuous communication with the Yemeni parties to encourage them to reach a comprehensive political settlement."

The statement indicated that the European Union seeks to encourage the current efforts to reduce escalation and resume political talks between the Yemeni parties under the auspices of the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths.

The statement pointed out that this visit comes after the talks held by European ambassadors last week in Aden with the Yemeni government and with other key parties to implement the Riyadh agreement.

The three ambassadors said in the statement: "Our visit to Sana'a is an opportunity to communicate important messages," expressing "the aspiration to positive discussions with the Yemeni parties on many issues."

The European ambassadors expressed their deep concern over the continuing human suffering in Yemen, stressing the necessity of an immediate end to the war.

The three ambassadors stressed the importance of resuming the peace process more broadly under the auspices of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths.

The statement called on the Yemeni parties to facilitate unimpeded humanitarian access, improve the work environment for humanitarian representers, respect human rights and improve the living conditions of Yemeni citizens in various parts of the country.
