Marib, Newsyemen:

The Marib Health Office announced that 21 deaths and injuries were reported in the province as a result of rain and floods, while local residents reported cutting off the international "Al-Abra" line with the marib dam water, which was arbitrarily flooded by local authorities.

A report published by the Marib Health Office on Tuesday indicated that 16 people drowned, half of them children, in addition to another case died as a result of a thunderous lightning, pointing out that all deaths reached hospitals and died.

The report added that four cases of injuries reached the provincial hospitals, including two women who were seriously injured as a result of the torrential rains and the fall of a house wall due to rain and another as a result of thunder.

According to the report, all the injured and deceased cases were distributed from the Saroah, Jubba, Harrib, Wadi Directorate and Marb city countryside.

On the other hand, the damage to the marib dam overflow by local authorities continues to be indiscriminate, as the dam's torrent, wednesday, cut off the international line linking Marib and Hadramaut provinces.

Local residents said the Safar-Al-Abyroad was cut off by torrential rains that had travelled about 85 kilometres from the dam, and noted that there were some passengers trapped in the floods.

Residents said that the flooding of the dam towards desert areas turned it into moving sand swallowing people approaching it, and called on passers-by in those areas to be careful and not to approach them.

In north-west Marib, local residents in Madgal al-Ja'aan and Rajwan said the two directorates were in a tragic situation due to the influx of floods that washed away citizens' property and agricultural fields.

They added that the suffering of citizens has increased the total absence of local authorities in Marib and civil society organizations from taking on the responsibilities assigned to them.

Farmers at the two directorates appealed to the competent authorities to help preserve the remainder of their farms.
