Marib, Newsyemen, Special:

More than 21 civilians have died and injured as a result of torrential rains in Marib province, with the number expected to rise with the number of missing persons recorded.

According to local sources, dozens of houses were completely and partially destroyed and most houses and camps were destroyed, while relief was limited to the solidarity of residents.

Despite reports in the media about the readiness of the government, its coalition and international organizations for their preparations for the disaster, the majority of the victims say they have not received any assistance from the local authority or from local and international organizations.

While the Marib authorities, led by governor Sultan al-Arada, only visited the marib dam and took commemorative photographs, in addition to holding meetings with the provincial leaders amid a large shortage of the necessary needs for the displaced and providing tents as little as possible, according to many of those affected.

As of Tuesday evening, heavy and overflowing torrents of the Marib dam were still flowing into the valleys, causing extensive agricultural areas, tents for displaced people and houses for the citizens to be washed away by three directorates.

The sources told Newsmen that dozens of farms in al-Naqaa area, east of Marib city, which belongs to the Wadi Directorate, were damaged by heavy floods that hit the area from the dam, which saw an increase in water that led to flooding from its back areas.

To date, the Marib authorities have failed to play any role and opened a safe passage for citizens in al-Rawda and Dhauna areas of Sarwah district.

The population demands that safe passages be opened quickly and that necessary needs be provided to alleviate suffering.

In Arak, the IDP unit in the province said it had moved 475 affected families and had been able to lift the siege on the families stranded in Arak by opening the line to them and continuing work on the construction of safe roads and entrances to al-Rawda area.

According to local residents, the torrent of shovels is expanding every hour and trees, houses and vehicles have been bulldozed in the area of Al-Wasah, Andana and Sa'ain, which are adjacent to the dam south of Marib, where the water level has reached the homes of citizens and camps for displaced persons.

According to statistics cited by the Office of the Executive Unit for Displaced Persons, more than 1,340 houses were damaged and drinking water wells and electricity services were destroyed.
