The Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, has turned the anniversary of the Prophet's birthday into a season for mobilizing fighters and embezzling money from citizens living in their areas of control.
With every religious occasion, al-Houthi leads for more political gain, as the militia leader exploits the memory of the Prophet’s birthday and the feelings of Yemenis to mobilize militarily in the name of the Prophet.
The Houthi militia’s preparations to celebrate the Prophet’s birthday this year seem absolutely unprecedented, as the Houthis have recruited thousands of children and adolescents in the name of the organizing committees for the Prophet’s birthday.
The Houthis also imposed sums of money on all shops and stores in the cities under their influence, especially Sana'a, which they lit in green colors, allegedly as religious colors.
Newsyemen channel, on YouTube, publishes a motion graphic video, showing the Houthi exploitation of religious events and turning them into seasons for sectarian mobilization, the collection of royalties from citizens and the suppression of all who object to these practices.
