Aden, NewsYemen:

On Sunday evening, the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths called on the government of interim President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and the Houthi militia - Iran's arm in Yemen - to work with the United Nations urgently to reach an agreement on the text of a joint declaration of a ceasefire and the resumption of peace talks aimed at ending the war and the delivery of Yemen to sustainable peace.

Griffiths said in a statement he issued on the occasion of the celebration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the United Nations and published on his official website: “Let us restore the values and foundations of the United Nations, "adding" because it is an engine for multilateral solutions. The United Nations remains an essential forum for the meeting of opponents, resolving differences peacefully and adopting common solutions to the challenges we face. "

"On this occasion, I call on the parties to work with the United Nations urgently to reach an agreement on the text of a joint declaration to enter into a ceasefire, alleviate the suffering of the Yemenis, and resume peace talks aimed at ending the war and bringing Yemen to a sustainable peace," the UN envoy added.
