Yemen ranked 187 at the global level in the Business Environment Report 2020, coming in late positions at the global and regional levels in most indicators, especially in the cross-border trade index 188 from 190 countries, the indicator of obtaining electricity 187, and the index of obtaining building permits 186.

Doing Business measures the regulations or laws that directly affect business and investment in 190 economies to assess the business performance environment in 10 key areas.

It implemented many reforms around the world, as 115 countries out of 190 implemented 294 organizational reforms for business activities, according to the 2020 report.

Yemen did not achieve relatively high results in the ranking except in the two indicators: property registration 86 and the tax payment index 89, and this is due to the fact that Yemen scored significant scores in the value of both indicators, reaching 65.2 in the property registration index and 74.1 in the tax payment index.

The 2020 report also shows a slight improvement in the index of starting a business compared to the previous report, 2019.

The head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aden, Abu Bakr Baabeed, had confirmed in press statements that the massive migration of capital abroad due to the continuing war, lack of security and disruption of infrastructure services.

He said that 500 thousand economic establishments had not been paid attention to by any politicians, parties and competing forces politically.

He added that the migrations of Yemeni businessmen are no longer limited to Egypt, Malaysia, Turkey and Africa, but have also reached remote regions such as Ecuador in search of stability and development.

Baabeed said that the cost of shipping the container from Aden to Sana'a is more expensive than the cost of shipping it from China to Aden.
