Sana'a, NewsYemen:

A new financial levies and royalties campaign implemented by the Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - targeting commercial centers and malls under the name of Zakat during the days and nights of the blessed month of Ramadan.

The Houthi militia in Sana'a closed the City Max Center and the Shamlan Water Factory, as part of a widespread extortion campaign aimed at imposing financial levies on shops, commercial companies and productive factories.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the capital, Sana'a, has expressed its condemnation and denunciation of the arbitrary measures practiced by the Houthi militia against the private sector.

The Houthi militia created an illegal organization that specializes in collecting zakat.

The Houthi carried out an armed campaign in which it demanded the private sector "hand over the database or close their shops."

The Chamber and its General Union held the Houthi militia fully responsible resulting from these measures, which would cause great harm to the national economy and harm the country's reputation, and demanded the cessation of such illegal and uncivilized behavior that violates all norms and charters.
