Aden, NewsYemen:

On Friday, the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, commented on the statements of the Assistant Commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, General Rustam Qasimi, during which he admitted Tehran had provided military support to it.

The militia’s leader, Muhammad Ali al-Houthi, claimed that “Rostam’s statements came in the context of provocation to the Gulf states,” although the Iranian general again defended his recognition of his country's provision of military support to the Houthis.

He said, in a statement carried by "Sputnik" agency: "Perhaps these statements from Qasimi are a provocation for the Gulf people to go to a direct battle with them. This is what I think. His statements came only for the sake of provocation."

General Qasimi, in statements on Wednesday evening, acknowledged providing military support to the Houthis, saying that there are currently "a small number of advisors from the Revolutionary Guard in Yemen."

Qasimi confirmed that the Revolutionary Guards provided weapons to the Houthi militia at the beginning of the war and trained members of its forces to manufacture weapons.
