The group of major countries calls on the factions of Yemen for an immediate cease-fire

 On Wednesday, the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven countries called on all parties in Yemen to agree to the United Nations proposals for a ceasefire, and condemned the Houthi militia's attacks on Saudi Arabia as well as their attack on Marib.

This came in the final statement issued by the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven countries, on Wednesday.

The Group of Seven includes 7 major industrial countries: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.


 "The ongoing conflict in Yemen and its repercussions on the country's unity and independence remain a source of grave concern to the G7," the statement said.

He added that the group called on "all parties in Yemen to agree to the United Nations proposals regarding an immediate ceasefire, the free flow of imports through the Red Sea ports, the reopening of Sanaa airport, and the resumption of comprehensive political talks."

He continued, "We condemn the Houthi cross-border attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and their continuous attack in Marib, which threatens at least one million displaced people, must stop."

The statement called for accountability for human rights violations and abuses, stressing the need for all parties to the conflict to provide full access to humanitarian aid and to ensure the protection of civilians.

"The need for humanitarian aid and goods, especially fuel, to flow unimpeded into the country and throughout the country," he stressed.  Regarding the "serious threat posed by the Safer oil tanker, we call on the Houthis to urgently facilitate the arrival of the United Nations mission."
