Aden, NewsYemen, special:

A banking source told NewsYemen that the Houthi militia took the decision to seize the balances of Al-Thiqa Islamic International Bank, to pressure it to hand over one billion Saudi riyals, which the interim President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi deposited in a special account in 2012.

The source explained that the late Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz offered a financial grant to Yemen worth one billion Saudi riyals during the year 2012 AD, but Hadi deposited it in his name in the Islamic Solidarity Bank in Sana'a.

He added that the amount lost a personal deposit in the bank owned by the Hayel Saeed Anam Group, in the name of President Hadi, and he did not withdraw it or transfer it to the liberated areas.

He pointed out that the Houthi militia had issued a court ruling through a subsidiary court in Sana'a, obligating Al-Tadamun Islamic Bank to hand over the amount in cash.

He stated that the bank informed the Houthis of its inability to pay the amount in cash, and offered to deduct it from its balance with the central bank under their control, but they refused, and decided to seize the balances of "Islamic Solidarity", to put pressure on him.

Earlier, the Central Bank in Sana'a directed the banking sectors to seize all funds and balances of Al-Tadamon Islamic Bank.  deposited with it.
