Brotherhood projects against the south expose their “unionist” lies

Al-Mahra, NewsYemen, Exclusive :

Remarkably, the media of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Houthi groups celebrated the statement issued by the sit-in organized by dozens of gunmen, on Friday afternoon, north of the Al-Ghaidha Corniche, the capital of Al-Mahra Governorate, "denouncing the continued presence of the occupation forces" in the governorate.

According to the statement, these occupation forces belong to four countries, namely Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Britain and America, calling on the "United Nations Security Council and the United Nations to pressure these countries to withdraw their forces from Mahra."

The Brotherhood and Houthi media celebrated the statement, which came to the contents of the 12 points, which correspond to the two groups’ discourse by describing the presence of the coalition forces as occupying forces, emphasizing the presence of British and American forces and calling for their resistance and expulsion.

The two groups see in these armed movements opposing the presence of the coalition and standing behind them in the media, politically and even organizationally through mobilization and organization - for the Brotherhood - in order to strengthen the confrontation with the coalition and in line with the mutual friend of the two parties represented by the Omani regime, which views Al-Mahra as a back garden where no one else is allowed to be present.

The Brotherhood and the Houthi groups also believe that the adoption of this anti-coalition activity in Mahra enhances their image as defenders of "Yemeni sovereignty", as promoted by the media machine of both parties.

In addition to that, the Brotherhood adds to this adoption another dimension, by showing that these armed movements represent a strong “unionist” card against the “fragmentation and separation projects” represented by the Southern Transitional Council, as the group sees it.

However, the Brotherhood’s media neglected to refer to the flags that were crowding the flag of the republic, which is the flag of the “Mahri Sultanate” that existed before the unification of the south in 1967 and is now raised by the armed movement against the coalition and the Brotherhood entities that stand behind this movement.

This was clearly put forward by Muhammad Al Afrar, who was supported by the Brotherhood to split the General Council of the Sons of Mahra and Socotra, one of the most powerful mass entities loyal to the Transitional Council, and installed it at its head in a hatched entity late last year.

The man said in his inauguration speech that day that the council’s priorities at this stage are to expel the occupation (in reference to the presence of Saudi forces) and preserve the sovereignty of Mahra in accordance with the 1967 borders.

The man’s talk clearly revealed the Brotherhood’s alternative options in case it failed to impose its control over the governorate under the banner of sovereignty and unity, which is threatening to revive the separatist tendency among the people of Mahra and reminding them of their ancient sultanate’s past.

Apparently, this Brotherhood option is not related to Mahra only, but to the south in general, and its adoption as an alternative option if attempts to impose control and hegemony on the south in the name of "unity" fail, then pushing it towards division and fragmentation will be an option to prevent the loss of complete control over it in favor of the Transitional Council.

This is evident from the Brotherhood's media adoption of voices that talk about the "Hadrami identity" and the "independence" of Hadhramaut as a separate state from the north and south, and talk about Hadhramaut's oppression and exclusion.

The matter does not stop at the political “fragmentation” projects by reviving the past, but the group shows enthusiasm towards imploding the south with regional and tribal conflict and linking it to any criminal incident, as was clearly demonstrated in the recent events in Lahj governorate between the Giants forces and militants from the Aghbra tribe.

Despite the tragic events of the liquidation of two wounded from the Giants’ forces at the hands of gunmen from the tribe, their details do not deviate from the criminal context related to the case of the killing of armed men from the tribe in a Mocha market, but the “Brotherhood” context of the incident was different by portraying it as  Al-Sabaiha revenge against Yafa.

The Brotherhood realizes the difficulty and perhaps the impossibility of regaining its control over the south with the presence of a strong political and military bearer of the southern cause represented by the Transitional Council, and that mobilizing to invade the south in the name of unity has become a thing of the past, so it sees that reviving this past is its last card to weaken its forces and penetrate the ranks of its people.
