A human rights network documents 6,476 violations committed by the Houthi militia against women in 19 governorates

 The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms has documented 6,476 violations committed by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia against women in 19 governorates.

Network indicated, in a report, that the violations committed by the Houthi militias in the governorates of Al-Hodeidah, Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Hajjah, Dhamar, Lahj, Marib, Raymah, Shabwa, Ibb, Abyan, Amanat Al-Asimah, Al-Bayda, Al-Jawf, Saada, Sanaa, and Aden.  Amran, and Al Mahwit, during the period from January 1, 2015 to June 1, 2021.

They varied between 1,691 cases of killing and 3,741 injuries as a result of artillery shelling, the explosion of mines and explosive devices, as well as sniping and random firing of live bullets, in addition to 770 cases of arrest and kidnapping, 195 cases of enforced disappearance, and 70 cases of torture of women in Yemen.

Taiz governorate topped the list with 347 killings, then Al Hodeidah governorate with 301 killings, followed by Aden governorate with 158 killings, then Lahj governorate with 92 killings, Marib governorate with 79 killings, and Al Jawf governorate with 79 killings.

The report confirmed that the network team verified the killing of 422 women as a result of the explosion of mines planted by the Houthi militia in the streets, public roads, residential neighborhoods, farms, grazing places and markets, including 123 women who were killed by mines and explosive devices belonging to the Houthis in Taiz governorate, 53 in Al-Jawf governorate, and 32 in the governorate.  Al-Hodeidah and 25 women in Al-Dhalea governorate, while the rest of the numbers are distributed among the rest of the governorates.

The network also documented a case of death under torture in Hajjah governorate, in which a 25-year-old girl from Taiz was killed. She worked as a facilitator for patients in the Saudi Hospital in Hajjah. Al-Houthi kidnapped her in late November 2016 from inside the hospital and deposited her in the central prison on charges of employment for aggression and that she  She distributes slides, basing their fabricated accusations on the girl's regional affiliation - according to the testimonies of witnesses to the incident.

It pointed out that the Houthi terrorist militia kidnapped and detained 770 women in 14 Yemeni governorates during the reporting period, including two women of foreign nationalities.

 The network’s team confirmed that the Houthi militia committed all forms of torture and cruel and degrading treatment against 70 abducted women in its secret and public prisons, which amounted to making trumped-up charges against their honor, as well as trading their honor - according to what was reported - in the testimonies of some of the released women who spoke of being harassed and raped.  This prompted some of them to commit suicide, as happened in the central prison in the capital’s secretariat, not to mention that some of them were subjected to physical liquidation by their families upon their release from Houthi prisons under what is called in the Yemeni tribal custom “washing of shame.”
