A press source in the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) said that Parliament Speaker Sultan al-Barakani asked the agency, last Thursday, to publish a vague letter containing his directives to the government to implement the recommendations of the report of the parliamentary fact-finding committee on the port of Qishn and the oil fields in Shabwa.

The source stated to (Newsyemen) that the agency requested from the office of the Speaker of Parliament extracts from the findings and recommendations of the two reports to be published as part of the cover letter on the referral of the two reports to the government for the local reader's perusal, adding that when the agency was waiting to provide the requirements for completing the press release, it was surprised by the letter of the Speaker of Parliament to the Prime Minister demanding an investigation with those in charge of the agency after describing them as ignorant.

Al-Barakani had called for the investigation and accountability of those in charge of the Saba Agency on the grounds of interference that did not concern it, the ignorance of those in charge of it and the lack of respect for the constitution and the law.

The source clarified that Saba Agency is responsible for the media policy of the state, and confirmed that what Al-Barakani requested was to publish the cover letter on the two reports, which are originally official correspondence between the legislative and executive authorities and do not concern public opinion as long as the press release did not contain the contents of these two reports, pointing out that the prime minister was informed of this fact and requested a copy of the two reports in order to include their recommendations in the news so that it would be complete and benefit the local reader.
