Mr. Mark Lowcock, The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator and the Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, said on Thursday upon his arrival in Sana'a that he came to Yemen because of the deteriorating humanitarian situation which has deteriorated since his previous visit.

"I have briefed the Security Council on the five things we want them to happen: improving the situation, alleviating the suffering of the people, stopping the fire, especially around facilities being used by relief facilities, which are essential for relief traffic, especially in al-Hodaidah, and providing adequate economic resources, pay salaries, and providing a hard currency into the markets to ensure the stability of the exchange rate.
