Hadramout authorities carried out a widespread military campaign to prosecute qat dealers, drugs and contraband.

A statement from the second military region said that its forces were deployed under the command of Brigadier General Ahmed Omar al-Majari, and worked to track down the outlaws and arrest a number of them.

The campaign also worked to end the gatherings in the Gul area, in response to the decision to ban them following the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

The campaign follows the decision of the governor of Hadramaut, commander of the second military region, Major General Faraj al-Besani, to prevent the entry and sale of qat, and explained that the campaign will last a week and all methods of smuggling qat and its gatherings will be eliminated.

Earlier, al-Behassi said that the decision to ban the entry and sale of qat in Hadramaut province is final and irreversible, and that the punishment will affect all violators of this decision anywhere.

The governor said the crackdown is aimed at eliminating all methods of smuggling qat and its gatherings, and will take deterrent measures against violators and outlaws.
