Aden, NewsYemen:

The head of the Southern Transitional Council, Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, stressed, on Tuesday, the need for the international community to pressure the government of interim President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi to accelerate the transfer of forces to the fronts and to stop procrastinating in forming the new government according to the Riyadh Agreement.

This came during his meeting, at his residence in Riyadh, with officials from the United Kingdom Mission to Yemen, headed by Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d'Affairs to Ambassador Simon Smart, and Political Attaché James Wheatley.

During the meeting, Al-Zubaidi reviewed the efforts made by the Southern Transitional Council to implement the Riyadh Agreement and the mechanism for its acceleration, indicating that the Council had completed the delivery of all plans required to implement the agreed mechanism, including the separation of forces in Abyan governorate and their transfer to the fronts, as well as the transfer of military forces to outside the capital, Aden.

He noted the need for the international community to support the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by exerting the necessary pressure on the other side to accelerate the transfer of forces to the fronts, and to stop the procrastination that delayed the formation of the government, whose tasks are supposed to start to alleviate the suffering of citizens by providing services, disbursing salaries and treating the crisis of the currency collapse, and resolving the issues of retirees, deportees and teachers, in order to avoid a further collapse of the humanitarian and living situation in the liberated governorates.

Al-Zubaidi stressed the continuation of the Transitional Council's efforts alongside the international community in combating terrorism, fighting extremism, and supporting peace efforts, pointing to the need for the active participation of the Council in the various stages of the comprehensive political process sponsored by the United Nations without any exclusion or delay.

For his part, the British Deputy Ambassador expressed his country's support for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in implementing the Riyadh Agreement and forming the new government, appreciating the role of the Southern Transitional Council and its positive attitude towards the urgent implementation of the agreement, according to the council’s official website.
