Aden, NewsYemen:

Saeed Bakran, as an expert on terrorist groups, asks about the follow-up to the security clash that occurred last month in Al-Mahra governorate with a number of Al-Qaeda members.

In a discussion on Al-Aan TV channel, he is asking whether Al-Qaeda in Al-Mahra governorate finds a safe haven for transporting its members, after it narrowed in the Al-Bayda governorate and other governorates, and suffered setbacks and heavy blows, in addition to its defeats in Iraq and Syria and the tightening of the noose on it in many  From the countries in which he was active ..

He says that it makes sense to “focus Al Qaeda on the governorate of Al-Mahra,” to try to “transfer the capabilities of the organization or what remains of the organization’s capabilities to this governorate that is open to the ocean and the Arabian Sea.

The organization "is looking for a foothold and an open geographical area on the beaches, to deliver military supplies, weapons, ammunition and people across the sea."

In the meeting, Bakran revealed that information from several sources matched the presence of the leader of the Al-Qaeda branch in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, Khaled Batarfi, who was seen in the Ramah area in the Thamud desert between the Shehn area and Hadramout, and there is also the presence of Ali Salem Al-Huraizi, who leads the opposition against the coalition in Al-Mahra.

Bakran said that "Batarfi" came to Al-Huraizi camp and met with him, expecting a joint conversation about transferring fighters from Al-Qaeda to areas in Al-Mahra, in order to prepare for military actions against the presence of the Arab coalition in Al-Mahra governorate.  It resembles the operations that Hadramawt and Shabwa witnessed before the ISIS was defeated by the elite in Hadramout and Shabwa.

Saeed added, "Al-Mahra is witnessing a kind of severe regional interference, which Al-Qaeda organization has become one of the tools for these regional interactions, dangerous to national security in the Arab region in general and Yemen in particular."
