340 families, most of them in Al-Jadaan camps, in Marib, were displaced within a week

The International Organization for Migration said that it monitored the displacement of 340 Yemeni families during the past week, as a result of the intensification of fighting between the army and the Houthi militia in a number of areas in Yemen.

The organization added in its weekly report to monitor displacement, that between 11 and 17 October, the organization monitored the displacement of 340 families (2040 individuals) who were displaced at least once. The organization said that since the beginning of this year until last Saturday, the organization estimates that 25,634 families (153,804 individuals) have been displaced at least once.

According to NewsYemen's sources, the ongoing war in Marib has caused the displacement of hundreds of families in the camps' villages of Al-Jadaan District.

Dozens of families were also displaced from Al Dhalea and Hodeidah over the past week.

Meanwhile, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said today, Sunday, that one million internally displaced persons in Yemen are living in deplorable and difficult conditions.

It said in a tweet, that one million internally displaced people in Yemen are living in random camps and at risk of eviction from their homes, near conflict areas, and without access to water, electricity or health services, in deplorable conditions.

In the context, the UNHCR office in Yemen said in a separate tweet, that the Commissioner and her partner, JAAHD, have built 1,750 emergency shelters in Al Hudaydah Governorate, to protect the displaced and host families from the harsh weather conditions.
