Taiz, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

The Brotherhood, the Hashd militia, and the government forces under their control have sought to protect the smuggling of oil derivatives, fertilizers and contraband to the Houthi militia areas in the central Taiz governorate.

Local sources told (NewsYemen) that the Muslim Brotherhood militia, forces from the 17th Infantry Brigade and the Military Police continue to protect smuggling gangs between the directorates of the legitimate government and the Houthi militia, west of Taiz governorate.

The sources pointed out that these gangs are part of major smuggling networks led by merchants affiliated with the Islah party, the terrorist Brotherhood's branch in Yemen, and who are protected by the organization's militia and the forces under them.

According to the sources, the Brotherhood gangs regularly smuggle high-quality weapons, oil derivatives, and fertilizers that are used in the manufacture of explosives, smuggled cigarettes and other prohibited materials through the roads of Jabal Habashi district, west of Taiz governorate.

The Brotherhood gangs expanded the smuggling operations after completing their control over the security and military decision in the Jabal Habashi district, and intimidating the local population over their refusal to turn their villages into safe passages for smuggling operations to the areas where the Houthi militia were present.

The smuggling operations reveal part of the deep close ties between the Brotherhood’s de facto authority in the city of Taiz and the Houthi group, which takes from Al-Hawban, east of the city, as a center to lead their operations in the governorate.
