Details of Al-Zubaidi's meeting with the US ambassador to Yemen

The head of the Southern Transitional Council, Major General Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, confirmed, on Wednesday, that the Council has fulfilled all necessary to announce the government and implement the other provisions of the Riyadh Agreement, praising the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to implement the agreement and support peace and stability.

This came during his meeting with the US ambassador to Yemen, Christopher Hanzel, and the political official at the embassy,   Chris Deuch, at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

During the meeting, Al-Zubaidi referred to the dangerous military escalation carried out by the Brotherhood, under the umbrella of the Yemeni government in Abyan, with the aim of thwarting the Riyadh Agreement.

He stressed the commitment of the southern forces to restraint and the defense stance to this day, adding that the council’s commitment to support the calm stems from its keenness not to deteriorate the humanitarian and living situation, according to the council’s official website.

The transitional council president also stressed the council’s position in support of the comprehensive peace process sponsored by the United Nations.

For his part, the American ambassador expressed his appreciation for the council’s position and its positive handling in various files, especially with regard to the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, stressing his country's support for the success of Riyadh’s efforts, stressing the need to accelerate the formation of the new government.
