Aden, NewsYemen:

Food prices are still on the rise in the liberated areas, despite the significant improvement of the Yemeni riyal against foreign currencies.

Prices increased as a result of the collapse of the riyal against foreign currencies recently, but with its improvement about a week ago, food prices are still the same, as they have not undergone any decline.

The national currency improved against foreign currencies, and the Saudi riyal exchange rate reached 170 on Sunday morning, in Aden, after it had exceeded 240 riyals.

Activists on social media demanded that state oversight agencies take action to control merchants tampering with citizens' food and reduce prices.

Journalist Basem Al-Shuaibi said that when he hears that the dollar is rising, he raises the price of foodstuffs at the same moment even if he bought them at a lower old price, and if the exchange rate falls, he does not lower the price .. He says that he bought his goods at the high price !!

Al-Shuaibi considered that the causes of price manipulation by traders are "greed, insecurity, and the weakness of the specialized institutions concerned with controlling prices and monitoring the activity of merchants."
