Aden, NewsYemen:

On Sunday, the Deputy Chairman of the Southern Transitional Council, Hani bin Buraik, called on the new government to be rational and focus on services in the south, confront the Houthi movement in the north, move away from statements that offend the south, and respect public opinion in the south.

Ibn Buraik said in a tweet on Twitter: “The government and its ministers should appreciate the sacrifices of the southerners and respect public opinion in the south,” referring to the intention of some government members to use the word “Yemeni unity”, in the context of provoking the south, and attempts to undermine the atmosphere of relative consensus.

The transitional vice president stressed that "the focus of the parity government will be on services and directing military efforts to confront Al-Houthi."

He added, "As for murmuring about the term unity and bringing it into every speech, this is what provokes the southerners and does not help in success," wishing "prudence and focus on services and the Houthis."

Relatedly, academic Dr. Fadl Al-Rubaie said that it is not possible to talk about unity and regions before the liberation of Sanaa from the grip of the Houthis.

Al-Rubaie added, in a blog post he posted on his Twitter account, "The government's discourse must respect sacrifices and public opinion, as it is not possible to talk about unity or regions before the liberation of Sanaa."

Al-Rubaie continued: "We suggest that the government be the speech of all its members about what the agreement stipulated, services, integration of forces, confronting Al-Houthi, and that the discussion of the vocabulary of unity and separation be postponed for all until Sanaa is liberated."
