Official collection documents for the qat tax revealed the actual amounts that the qat tax should be in the Mocha District.
Three collection bonds for three cars for qat sellers showed the amount of one million two hundred thousand riyals, while it is not known how many cars enter Mocha on a daily basis.
A source in the qat tax collection center said that qat suppliers are seeking to reduce the tax, citing the shortage of its quantities, as well as paying double taxes in the areas controlled by the Houthi militia.
He added that the qat suppliers evading paying the tax amounts prompted the tax collectors to activate the legal fees to put pressure on those who evaded to pay them four days ago, stressing that the sums for which bonds were cut today, the qat suppliers refuse to pay them and that the case is being considered by the Security Zone Command.
To that, an official at the local authority of Mocha indicated that the total tax fees for khat are minimal and do not exceed 150,000 riyals per day, which are joint fees that are supplied to the central bank in the governorate.
He added that the local authority started its work recently and set the activation of revenues by legal means as a set-up of its plan, and also stopped any illegal expenditures and that any manipulation of tax operators will be deterred and that the suppliers of khat have to pay legal fees, and in the event of grievances or complaints, they are submitted to the directorate administration .
The Directorate of Mocha complains about the poor collection of financial revenues and the blockage of most of its revenue containers, but the bonds that were revealed today indicate the presence of large sums.
