Aden, NewsYemen, Jalal Muhammad:

Labor Day passed on Yemen in light of the suffering of various workers in all sectors after many companies, institutions and factories stopped, which led to a deterioration of the living conditions of the majority of Yemenis.

At a time when various countries of the world and its trade unions celebrate Labor Day, Yemen has become far from that since the Houthi group's control of state institutions in late 2014, and the resulting wars, destruction and conflict that led to many companies, institutions and factories to stop working.

Mansour Farwan, 30, does not remember this occasion, as he says he has been unemployed since the company he used to work for closed its doors in 2017 due to what he called "the systematic looting that it was subjected to by the Houthis and the multiplicity of looting and extortion methods."

He mentioned to "NewsYemen" that he graduated from the Faculty of Commerce at Sana'a University with a major in "Accounting", but he did not find any job opportunity after they were laid off in mid-2017, and his aspirations that he was drawing went unheeded.

He continued, "I stand today helpless in front of my family, whom I could not help after my graduation. It turned into a burden and burden on them, but this is the case of the majority of Yemeni youth for more than six years under the war, which has led to the deterioration of various aspects of life. % Of Yemenis need food aid to ward off famine, according to United Nations reports.

The details of the life of the citizen Abdul Salam Al-Shiaani are not much different from the suffering of Mansour Faroun, as he is also unemployed, after he used to work in a carpentry and furniture workshop.

Abd al-Salam told "NewsYemen" that the owner of the workshop closed it after his bankruptcy as a result of the lack of citizens ’interest in buying luxuries, and Abd al-Salam's income was cut off with it, to start a difficult journey of struggle and the constant search for work from one workshop to another, and with the daily wage, which he said was no longer fulfilling his daily expenditure on his own. So how about his family of 5.

Abdul Salam added: "The world celebrates the Labor Day, and considers it a holiday. We are not aware that most Yemenis have been paid for six years ago, and no longer work except the Houthis and those with them. Positions are for them and trade is their right, and buildings and lands buy them with imaginary sums, and the people have hunger and death at the front, other than This cannot do any good for the country and the people. "

The consequences of unemployment

Yemeni workers live in harsh conditions and face tragic conditions imposed on them by the war, and according to field studies of a number of organizations concerned with economic affairs, the Houthi war in Yemen caused the suspension of many companies and cement factories, and the layoff of about 50 thousand workers, while the food industries, metal and plastic companies stopped ; What affected the situation of thousands of workers, and their fall in the arms of unemployment.

Reports of the Economic Studies Centers confirmed that the Houthis systematically targeted industrial and production facilities, and extorted commercial companies, businessmen, and moneymen. This prompted them to close their facilities and lay off thousands of workers.

A tragic reality

The rate of poverty in Yemen has increased in an unprecedented way, to include about 85% of the total population, in the context of this, a number of community activists confirm that Yemeni workers are living for the sixth year in a row, difficult living conditions unprecedented for decades, after That the majority of unemployed Yemenis suffer from deteriorating psychological and living conditions, which are the worst ever.

Emphasizing that the current situation calls for serious work to rid Yemenis from this war and work to achieve peace and resolve the Yemeni crisis, or to rearrange, organize and choose seriously the military and political leadership in the legitimate government until the Houthis are broken and the people are rid of them and their evils that affect every Yemeni family, and the Yemenis have become Closer to death than life.

In light of the international community's disregard for the harm caused to the Yemeni workers by the war and the coup of the Houthi militia, their tragedies increased and their pain worsened
