Aden, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

The houses of God, the "mosques", have turned into qat chewing councils, in the northern governorates, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan.

Activists circulated dozens of pictures of the transformation of mosques into qat chewing councils.

Activist Salem said that during the era of the late president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, mosques for worship and people were in the markets and received salaries, and today in the era of priesthood and backwardness, no prayer, no salaries, no Eid, no shopping, no Umrah, and loudspeakers everywhere, even mosques lltransmit Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi's nonsense. Every night.

Pictures on social media showed the Houthi leader, Muhammad al-Bukhaiti, delivering a sermon in a mosque, while listeners were chewing qat.

According to activists, Al-Bakhiti used to deliver the sermon instead of Tarawih prayers, which his group considers heresy.

Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi justified converting mosques into qat chewing councils, because tareeh is a "innovation", while activists considered this speech to be "inciting" to harass people.

In response to al-Houthi, journalist Majdi Oqba said: Whether it is a heresy, Sunnah, or superfluous, it is in the end a belief specific to a sect, group, or current that differs with you intellectually and ideologically.
