Southern political and media activists launched the hashtag #Al-Mahra_rejects_Yemen's Representatives, expressing their rejection of the presence of what they described as "corrupt gangs and their parliament in the governorate, which aims to legitimize the presence of Yemeni occupation tools on the lands of the south, the continued looting of its wealth, and the strengthening of the role of smugglers."

The leader of the Transitional Council, Ahmed Omar bin Farid, stressed that "from Al-Mahra to Bab Al-Mandab, one people, one will and one goal, and wherever they go, they will find the people of South Arabia before them."
