The British Royal Navy announced on Tuesday the seizure of a ship carrying a drug shipment off the coast of East Yemen overlooking the Arabian Sea.

According to a statement issued by the British Royal Navy, a British ship that was patrolling international waters in the Arabian Sea yesterday (Monday) seized a large amount of methamphetamine, the market value of millions of dollars.

The statement said that the crew of the destroyer «HMS Defender» monitored the ship during a patrol early in the morning in search of smugglers in the Arabian Sea.

The statement stated that the ship was not flying the flag of any country and did not appear to be a fishing vessel.

The statement emphasized that the ship was searched and 11 large bags containing crystal meth methamphetamine were found, with a total weight of 130 kilograms, and a market value of 3.3 million pounds (3.4 million dollars).

The captain of the British ship Richard Hewitt said: "I am" really proud "that the crew intercepted the drugs before it reached shore, but he did not specify where the drugs came from or if the ship had a clear destination.

It is noteworthy that most of the drug shipments that reach the Arabian Sea come from Afghanistan through Iran, which seeks to smuggle them to Yemen via the eastern coasts of Yemen and from there to the Arab Gulf states to provide financial revenues allocated to support the war effort of the Houthi coup militia.
