Parliamentarians demand Hadi to urgently dismiss the leadership of the Central Bank

On Sunday, members of the House of Representatives called on interim President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi to dismiss the leadership of the Central Bank and to rationalize public spending to save the Yemeni economy and currency from collapse.

The exchange rate of the dollar, in areas controlled by legitimacy, crossed the barrier of 1000 Yemeni riyals, in an unprecedented collapse of the national currency, which caused a rise in food prices and a deterioration in the living conditions of citizens.

Fourteen parliamentarians sent a message to President Hadi in which they said, "The government's failures in managing all the national files entrusted to it, especially the economic file, resulted in a rapid and horrific deterioration in the value of the national currency until the price of one dollar crossed the threshold of a thousand riyals, which reflected itself sharply on the life of  The citizen in all its aspects, and doubled his suffering from the scourge of war, destruction and displacement since September 2014.

The parliamentarians called for "the urgent dismissal of all the current central bank leaders and their replacement with leaders who are competent and specialized and who are known for their integrity, and to oblige all governorates' governors and resolutely to supply all central and local state resources to the account of the general government, the party of the central bank."

They called on President Hadi to "obligate the government to operate all oil and gas facilities, export production from them on a regular basis, and supply all proceeds to the government's general account at the Central Bank in Aden."

They stressed, "the importance of obligating all sea, land and air customs ports within the legitimate control areas to collect fees and taxes on imported goods, and activate the role of the tax authority."

The parliamentarians stressed "the need for the president to direct the government to take measures to rationalize public spending and disburse all expenditures in accordance with the budget linking law and the laws in force."
