Shabwa, Newsyemen:

The Brotherhood authorities in Shabwa imposed large financial royalties on truck owners on the international line leading to Al-Abr in Hadhramaut governorate.

Truck owners and truck drivers said that Brotherhood authorities force them at checkpoints to pay monetary royalties.

They emphasized that the points that follow “Laqab wa Daifir” require them to pay these taxes under the name of “improving the security role,” and compulsorily.

In addition, travelers have complained of harassment and violations they are subjected to on a daily basis by the Brotherhood militia at several security points in Shabwa.

The travelers said that the authorities deliberately abuse them from a regional standpoint, stressing that some of them were arrested and assaulted.

In recent months, the Brotherhood authorities imposed financial levies on trucks and used them for their own benefit, in the manner of the Houthi militia.

The monetary royalties on trucks in Shabwa would result in doubling the burdens on the residents of the governorate, as merchants add money to the prices of goods and consumables to compensate for the sums they pay to the Brotherhood’s authority.
