Yemen calls on the United Nations to activate the monitoring team for Houthi violations against children

Yemen's delegate to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, affirmed that the Houthi militia encourages children to commit terrorist acts, and throws them into its absurd holocausts.

Al-Saadi, with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, Virginia Gamba, reviewed the violations and practices that children in Yemen are subjected to by the Houthi militias in their areas of control, most notably the recruitment of thousands of them and feeding the minds of children with sectarian concepts and extremism.

He stressed the need to activate the United Nations country team in Yemen to play its role in monitoring and monitoring all violations and practices carried out by the Houthi militia, including the recruitment of children and the practice of methods of intimidation and extortion against their families.

On the other hand, Ambassador Al-Saadi referred to the legitimate government's efforts to protect children's rights, reduce the use and recruitment of children in armed conflict, rehabilitate children affected by the conflict, integrate them into society and return them to their families, according to Saba news agency.

For her part, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations praised the efforts of the Yemeni government and its cooperation with the United Nations to protect the rights of children and limit their use and recruitment in this conflict by actively engaging in the implementation of the road map, and designating focal points in the armed forces to raise awareness of mechanisms and protocols for dealing with children and protecting them from the effects of the conflict  .


The UN official expressed her readiness to strengthen the country team in Aden Governorate with the required expertise in order to work on completing the road map, and suggested setting a number of measures that should be implemented during the second half of this year, identifying difficulties and developing appropriate treatments for them.
